Bernice Luu

Summer Intern 2016

My name is Bernice Luu, and I am from Hacienda Heights, California. I am going to be a third year at University of California, Riverside and my major is Economics Administrative Studies with a concentration of Human Resources. This is my third year interning for AAEDE. Looking back on my first year here, I have learned a lot of communication skills and the importance of involvement in the community. I feel that I am not the same shy girl who wouldn’t speak out unless spoken to during my first year interning. I am looking forward into learning more skills and applying it to my future goals during my internship at AAEDE.

There is a sense of fulfillment I get from taking on the tasks given to me as they constantly push me to put forward my best work. I know that this will further develop my communication and event planning/coordination skills while interning with AAEDE.

Laura Salazar

Reading Rocket Tutor

My name is Laura Salazar and I’m from Alhambra, California. I am 19 years old and I am going into my sophomore year at San Francisco State University. I’m majoring in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in teacher preparation and minoring in English Literature. I hope to become an elementary or middle school teacher very soon. This is my first time working with AAEDE as a tutor in their Reading Rockets program, hosted at the local library. Working with AAEDE has been such an incredible learning experience for me, not only because this is a great opportunity to apply what I have learned in school but also because I get to contribute to the wonderful community that AAEDE serves.
